Anaesthetics

Lonodn,UK

I am an anaesthetics trainee living in London. I was lucky enough to be the recipient of GASOC’s Dr Keith Travel Grant for a project in Sierra Leone in 2022. This was an incredible experience, and it cemented my desire to work in global surgery throughout my career. I discovered the work of GASOC through this and was excited about the GASOC goal and strategy. I am delighted to be the Communication Rep for the next two years and hope to inspire more trainees to work in global surgery in the future.

Anaesthetics

I’m Beth, an anaesthetics trainee in Thames Valley. When COVID cancelled my elective to Tobago, I joined the Global Medical Education Collaborative as a tutor, where I delivered interactive, case-based teaching to students in LMICs. This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for mutual learning and the impact of resource variability on medical care and education. I’m also passionate about simulation for civility, human factors and practical skills training, and keen to explore its role in global curriculum development.

I’m excited to contribute to GASOC’s work in promoting equitable education, sustainable partnerships, and access to safe anaesthesia and surgery worldwide.
