Katy Kuhrt
Obs & Gynae
London
Katy is a registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who has recently completed a PhD evaluating point-of-care tests for detecting acute obstetric complications, undertaken while based in Sierra Leone. Her interest in global health developed during a Clinical Fellow year spent in the Bidibidi refugee settlement in Uganda, where she led a project implementing community blood pressure monitoring. She is currently a Co-Investigator on an NIHR-funded program aiming to reduce cardiovascular risk in women following hypertensive disorders of pregnancy across Sierra Leone, South Africa and Zambia. This work involves extensive community engagement and research capacity building in women’s health globally, which she is keen to promote in her role on the GASOC committee.
