My interest in Global Health was sparked by learning about the many ways that conflict affected development and health in my home country of Somalia. I completed an intercalated BSc in Global Health and particularly developed a passion for maternal health. This led to publications, an elective in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Mulago Hospital, Uganda, and volunteering with CRADLE Trial 3. I have also volunteered with Harrow Public Health on a qualitative research project, capturing the experiences of Somali women using maternity support services. I’m excited to foster new collaborations and make impactful change with GASOC!
