Miss Lesley Hunt
Consultant colorectal and general surgeon, Sheffield
I’m a colorectal surgeon in Sheffield. I also have expedience more broadly with abdominal and general surgery in Africa. For the last decade, I’ve been heavily involved with hands on general surgery training and development of training in Sierra Leone. Our current focus is supporting Sierra Leonean surgeons to train their own successors and developing low tech simulation models.
More recently I’ve conducted training in Malawi and Ghana. I’m an active member of SWIFTSS (Surgeons Working in aFrica Together for Safer Surgery) travelling with them to Tanzania and Ghana, and currently supporting a local surgeon with the sustainable mesh hernia program in Sierra Leone.
I’m an International Medical Educator and member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the US NGO Physicians for Peace. I also work with the Cambridge International Anastomotic workshop.
